New Episode of ‘Artbound’ Showcases Shades of L.A. Photography Archive, Unique Cardboard-Constructed Pieces and Guatemalan Political Performance Art

KCET, the nation’s largest independent public television station, presents new episode of its original, award-winning arts and culture exploration program, ARTBOUND.

KCET takes viewers on a journey through the arts and cultural landscape of Southern California with ARTBOUND. This episode of ARTBOUND features a range of artists fostering community involvement through creative expression.

Kathy Kobayashi discusses the Shades of L.A. photography archive at the Downtown L.A. Library. The Shades of L.A. archive explores community-based photos illuminating diversity in Southern California.

Ana Serrano creates cardboard-constructed pieces based on her cultural explorations around Los Angeles.

Next, ARTBOUND travels to Mexicali Rose, an artist organization in Mexicali, where locals are encouraged to create art to galvanize community involvement.

This episode also features performances in Guatemala from Teatro Jornalero Sin Fronteras (Day Labor Theater Without Borders) whose work engages people who have been displaced and deported to Guatemala.
