My Moby Dick is a video series presented by The Library Foundation of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Public Library to discover or rediscover the great literary masterpiece, Moby Dick, through the lens of the modern and equally mythical Southern California state of mind.

Science writer and curator Margaret Wertheim discusses Moby Dick as science fiction, whales as the petroleum of the 19th century, and Melville’s respectful treatment of both the whalers and the whale.
