Niche.LA Video Art presents “Digital World: Oz”

LOS ANGELES, CA – On August 11th, 2005, Niche.LA presents “Digital World: Oz,” a collection of digital art from various mediums, focusing on Australia and the works of ADAM PHILLIPS and SCART. Situated next to each other, Niche.LA features an 18-seat private screening room and a mixed-media/video art gallery. A digital cooperation in the middle of Gallery Row, these two “mini-galleries” offer an eclectic artistic experience on the 4th floor of the Spring Arts Tower in less than 750 square feet.

ADAM PHILLIPS is the award-winning animator behind biteycastle.com, hitchhiker, and the Brackenwood series of Flash movies. With 12 years of traditional 2D and 3D animation experience with the Walt Disney Company, he has authored several published works on Flash animation and a Flash-animated music video for the U.S. band, Ween.

SCART (aka Shane Carter) is an Australian born Digital Artist / Designer, Musician, and Lyricist that designs and creates images in a wide variety of styles. Coming from a DIY punk background, Scart was guitarist and songwriter in several Australian punk bands including Berzerk Surgeons, SUSS and the Satirical, and Deaf Machine. He is currently working with the Synaptic Graffiti Collective (multimedia, projections, art, poetry, music & performance) while writing, recording, vocalizing, and playing in his current band, “The Molotov.”

CHARLI SIEBERT is a 23 year old digital artist from Huntington Beach, CA. Past Shows: Group exhibition at Echo Gallery in Chicago, IL (December 2003 – January 2004); several shows at the Art Café in Davis MI; and featured in issues of Fleshrot Magazine, Dark Moon Rising, 3D World Magazine, Dark Realms Magazine, Cthulhu Sex Magazine, and HDRI3D Magazine.

DAN MEYER aka smashmethod, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, dinks around in all of the programs of the trade, making various styles of digital art, bringing as many strange concepts from idea to final product as possible. Dan also writes instrumental music and has produced 13 albums, ranging in style from slow, ambient, meditation music to more progressive, breakbeat pieces.
