Directed by Eric Heights and produced by Nic Cha Kim, “Songs in the Key of Los Angeles: The Bedrock Sessions” is a music series presented by KCET’s Artbound featuring contemporary Los Angeles based musicians recording personal interpretations of archived sheet music found in the songbook collection located inside the Central Library.

A project of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, this short documentary is a video companion to the article “Songs in the Key of Los Angeles: Coda” by Josh Kun.

Participating artists in this video series include Aloe Blacc, I See Hawks in L.A., Julia Holter, Petrojvic Blasting Company, and La Santa Cecilia.

Los Angeles, CA – Niche.LA Video Art presents the premiere of short documentary “Thank You For Coming” on KCET’s award-winning transmedia arts and culture journalism series, Artbound. Available April 8th online on the KCET website, the video is based on the article “Thank You For Coming: Building Community with Art and Food” by Carol Cheh.

Directed by Eric Heights and produced by Nic Cha Kim, “Thank You For Coming” is about a restaurant that is also an artist residency space that encompasses the worlds of sustainable farming, cooperative living, community-based activism, fine art, and design.

July 4, 2012 – Downtown LA – Fireworks Show Out My 10th Floor Window

Ever since I adopted my dog Jack, I haven’t been able to leave the house and celebrate Independence Day. I could bring him along, but he’d be a nervous wreck wherever we’d go and it doesn’t help they’ve been going off all week leading up to tonight. No dog likes fireworks, but my neighborhood really goes to town.

The only consolation is the fact I have the most amazing firework show out my 10th floor window near Downtown Los Angeles. No fancy editing here… just point, shoot, cut, upload.

James lives and works in downtown Los Angeles. His work spans across media and disciplines from video and sound to sculpture, photography, printmaking, and painting.  Adams has exhibited throughout Southern California at venues including The Constant Gallery, Kellogg Art Gallery, i-5 Gallery, Soundwalk and the University Art Museum at CSULB.  His single channel videos have screened at the Experimental Edit International Video Festival in Auckland, New Zealand.

LOS ANGELES, CA – From November 13th – December 6th, 2008, Niche.LA Video Art presents a collection of new works by LA artist Motion One as well as his video art debut Mear One – Live Art Experience, a video expression chronicling famed LA grafitti artist, Mear One.

MOTION was born as Ricardo Estrada in Los Angeles, CA in 1980. Growing up, he was your typical kid: video games, skating, chillin’ with the homies, and getting his ass wooped by his mom. He was bit by the graffiti bug in Jr. High. Once he got to high school, Ricardo started to socialize with all the other graff writers and he was taken under the wing of his fellow writers SODA and HECTIC.
