Video artists reflect on the horizon

In an Australian premiere, LANDSEASKY puts an alternative focus on mass screen culture via the simplicity and unity of the horizon.

LANDSEASKY: revisiting spatiality in video art, opened last night (21 August) at Sydney’s National Art School Gallery (NAS) and, as its subtitles prompt, it explores the strong physical three-dimensional impact of video space using the horizon as a meter for consideration.

Curator Kim Machan, Director of Multimedia Art Asia Pacific (MAAP), has amassed the work of 12 contemporary video artists working across locations as diverse as India, China, Hong Kong, the Netherlands and South Korea alongside Australian artists ‘traversing different contexts with a theme common to all – land sea and sky.’
